We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Linda Salomons, President of the Friends of the Vestal Public Library, has been named the winner of the 2026 FLS Daniel W. Casey Library Advocacy Award! 🏆✨

Every year, the Friends of the Library Section (FLS) of the New York Library Association (NYLA) honors an outstanding volunteer or group whose dedication goes far above and beyond to support libraries and community service. Linda embodies this spirit in every way!

Since pioneering this new chapter of the Friends of VPL in 2024, Linda has built a passionate team of volunteers running bimonthly book sales, sorting book donations, and securing vital corporate sponsorships.

Thanks to these fundraising initiatives, the Friends have supported amazing library programs and resources, including:

📚 Books for elementary book clubs

Linda has also connected VPL with key corporate donors—including Miller Auto, Tioga State Bank, Triple Cities Family Dental, Levene, Gouldin & Thomson, and Visions Federal Credit Union—for major community projects like exterior building banners, an outdoor drive-up book drop, an in-library charging station, and hygiene supplies.
