Top Shelf: Cookbook Club

VPL Presents Top Shelf, a debuting cookbook club. Looking to share your love of food and cooking with others? Are you new to cooking and want to test your skills in the kitchen? Join us for an evening of tempting dishes and tastier conversations with other culinary-minded chefs of all skill levels. Following the theme of the month, each participant will pick a recipe, prepare it, and bring it to the meeting.

Top Shelf is going on an adventure! For the next couple of months, we will be going on a culinary exploration and focusing on recreating dishes from around the globe. In April, we will be focusing on recipes from the beautiful Mediterranean peninsula of Greece! So grab your culinary passport and sign-up for April’s meeting!

Partner Yoga

Grab a partner for Yoga on Monday, March 27!

Sign up with your spouse, partner, or BFF for a connective experience with assisted poses, resistance, and stretching. All yogis welcome, new or experienced! 
For the best experience, please bring a water bottle, towel, and your own mat if you have one. 
VPL has mats and blocks to borrow during the session. 
Donations encouraged but not required.

Yin Yoga

Thursdays at 6PM! This slow flow yoga class targets deep connective tissues, ligaments, joints, and bones. The asanas or poses in yin yoga are held for longer allowing you to get a deep stretch physically and mentally with extended time for meditation.

All yogis welcome, new or experienced!

Bring your own yoga mat or use one of VPL's. Donations encouraged but not required.

Mad for Art - Paint Pour Triptych

3 canvases for the 3rd month of 2023! Lay your canvases in a row and pour acrylic paint over the top to create a cohesive collection of creativity. 

Sign up online starting Tuesday, February 28, and let us know if you will be participating in person or virtually. Basic supplies are provided for virtual attendees, supplies must be picked up by 4 PM the day of the class. 

Please be aware that Mad for Art classes fill up quickly. Carefully read each email to ensure your class standing.

Java Joe Jammers

Join VPL as we enjoy the talents of local musicians, Java Joe Jammers. This jam band has been together since the mid-1970s performing folk and country music. The Jammers will perform in the meeting room at 6PM every 4th Tuesday. Drop in for a song or stay until the last note.

Harry Potter Kahoot Trivia

POSTPONED - Now on MARCH 24

Calling all witches and wizards, muggles and squibs! Join us for a night of managed mischief. Be sorted into your house and sit amongst your peers as you test your knowledge about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Questions will require the daring bravery of a Gryffindor, cunning of a Slytherin, book-smarts of a Ravenclaw, and loyalty of a Hufflepuff. Light refreshments will be provided.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED 

Teams of 4 - Each team must have at least one player 14 years or older. A digital device such as a phone or tablet will be required to play. Each team will share 1 digital device.

Seedy Saturday - Earth Day Celebration

Help VPL spring into summer with our 3rd annual Seedy Saturday: Earth Day Celebration!

Saturday, April 22 11 AM - 2 PM

 

At Seedy Saturday, gardeners and plant lovers can gather in the VPL Reading garden for a perennial, annual, seed & seedling swap and the spring opening of the seed library. Kids can participate by helping in the garden or enjoying outdoor games and activities like bubbles, jump ropes, hula hoops, and more! Families who registered for a free tree through Neighborhood Forest can pick up their saplings too!

Seedy Saturday is a great opportunity for volunteering by weeding, planting, and mulching the VPL Reading Garden with help from the Vestal High School Interact Club.

FUNshop

Looking for an interactive and engaging activity? Try FUNshop! 

FUNshop is an engaging and interactive workshop created by local author and speaker Russ the BIG Guy! Participants play games and icebreakers to learn spontaneity, adaptability, creativity, and improve interpersonal skills. FUNshop workshops also help with valuable life skills like collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Drop in to a FUNshop session on Wednesdays at 6:15 PM PM at Vestal Public Library to join the FUN.

Pins & Needles

Pins & Needles is meeting twice a month now! Every second and fourth Thursday at 6 PM. Check VPL calendar for dates.
Take the time to come in and work on that long-forgotten knitting project with other knitters and crocheters or learn how to start your own project. We will meet in the Library to work, chat, and share patterns and project ideas!
