Hygiene Pantry

While we receive donations from library patrons, corporate donations from Vestal Dental, community support from Good Neighbors Vestal, and restock using library funds, we can always use help to keep the pantry well-stocked for those who benefit from the pantry.

You can donate items to VPL by dropping them off at the circulation desk, or buy items from our Amazon wishlist and get items shipped directly to VPL!

The Personal Care Pantry began in collaboration with Girl Scouts, Madeline Herceg, Lily Medionte, and Lilly St John as their Silver award project in February 2024.

Anyone can help themselves anonymously, we just ask that recipients take what they need for one week. Students, seniors, those with developmental difficulties, displaced adults and families, and unhoused people in our community have been just a few of those who benefit from the pantry supplies.

 

We estimate that the hygiene pantry has supplied the Vestal Community with over 1000 toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, and feminine products in the first ten months (that’s over 6000 individual products!). Additionally, laundry soap, washcloths, and assorted personal care items have been supplied when available.​
